At the heart of Dielite Media & Sports are its founders, based in Tanzania and Malawi, whose journey began with a shared passion for the arts and a commitment to fostering new talent. With backgrounds in entertainment and business, the founders bring a unique blend of creativity and strategic thinking to the agency. Their combined expertise has been instrumental in shaping Dielite’s reputation as a potential talent powerhouse.
The story of Dielite began with three brothers, Teebs (Taleeb Jussab), Jeelz (Jaleel Jussab), and Cyapital (Ishan Jussab), whose childhood was steeped in the melodies of Reggae Dancehall in Malawi. The brothers’ upbringing in a town renowned for its vibrant music and sports scene played a significant role in their development. Taleeb recalls, “We grew up around this environment, and as kids, we found camaraderie and bonding on a creative level through music and sports.”
Taleeb heads his own business and legal firm in Zanzibar by the name of Inner-works Consultants, while Jaleel has been a senior counsel in the Malawi civil service for over a decade. Ishan, a journalist and drone pilot for Swoop Aerospace, helps deliver medical supplies to rural areas in Malawi.
Taleeb Jussab, who heads his own business and legal firm in Zanzibar, is the driving force behind Dielite’s operations in the region.
His vision is to transform Zanzibar into a hub for emerging talent in both sports and entertainment. He is also a champion for young entrepreneurs through techstars startup week zanzibar which is a five-day event held in Stone Town, Zanzibar, aimed at promoting, boosting, and empowering the Zanzibari startup climate.
It brings together entrepreneurs, innovators, and local leaders to showcase ideas, products, and services, while fostering innovation and growth in the local startup ecosystem.
“Zanzibar has a rich cultural heritage and an abundance of untapped talent,” Taleeb explains. “Our goal is to provide the right platforms and support to nurture this talent and bring it to the global stage.”
Taleeb’s commitment to this vision is evident in Dielite’s partnerships and initiatives. He has been instrumental in forging collaborations with key local entities such as Sultan Football Academy, Stone Town Records and Zanzibar Comedy C Records.
These partnerships are designed to leverage the unique strengths of each organization, creating a comprehensive support system for aspiring athletes and artists in Zanzibar.
In partnering with Sultan Football Academy, Dielite Media & Sports aims to bring enhanced marketing support and strategic planning to the academy’s initiatives. “We see this partnership as a great opportunity to elevate our marketing efforts and improve the organization of our tournaments,” says Taleeb. The director of Sultan Football Academy, Jamal shares this enthusiasm, stating, “My long-term goals are to produce players to play at the highest level all over the world and also to have the academy playing in the main league of Zanzibar. I am excited about this partnership in all areas, but mostly my players will get exposure to help them fulfill their dreams.”
This collaboration aligns perfectly with our mission to elevate Zanzibar’s musical artists onto a wider stage. “We are particularly excited about the upcoming performance events, which will not only showcase our incredible talent but also solidify our position within the music industry” says Taleeb.
Qassim Omar also know as “Mash Marley”, Founder of Stone Town Records, echoes this sentiment: “This partnership is a game-changer. By joining forces with Dielite, we’re creating opportunities for our artists to shine. The planned events are a crucial step in showcasing Zanzibar’s rich musical heritage and contemporary sounds.”
Dielite’s focus on highlighting Zanzibar’s musical landscape makes this partnership a natural fit.
Dielite Media & Sports is excited to partner with Zanzibar Comedy Club in preparing monthly comedy events in Zanzibar, primarily targeting the local audience.
“Comedy is a powerful way to engage and entertain the community, and we’re thrilled to work with Zanzibar Comedy Club to bring more laughter and joy to the island,” says Taleeb.
This partnership aims to create a consistent platform for local comedians to showcase their talent and build a loyal following in Zanzibar.
In collaboration with Maisara Tennis Club, Dielite Media & Sports is committed to promoting tennis on the island. This partnership will focus on offering a space for people of all ages and skill levels to learn, practice, and enjoy the sport. “Tennis is a sport that can bring people together, and we want to make it accessible and enjoyable for everyone in Zanzibar,” says Taleeb. Through this partnership, Dielite aims to foster a strong island tennis culture and provide recreational and competitive play opportunities.
Their early years were marked by a deep engagement with music and sports, but as they approached their teenage years, they realized the need for proper guidance. Taleeb acknowledges, “We got to find out that there was a lot that we didn’t have in the sense of we didn’t have the right discipline, we didn’t have the right representation in terms of guiding us to nurture our talent and to maximize our time and our ability as well.” This lack of support led to disappointment and the realization that their dreams might not take flight as envisioned.
The creative flame remained alive despite venturing into professional careers – Taleeb and Jaleel as lawyers, and Ishan as a drone pilot and journalist. Taleeb’s voice resonates with conviction: “We decided that we still need to do music fairly to an interesting level… perhaps it is now time to put the skills that we have acquired and try to provide the things that we never had to other artists and athletes that are upcoming.”
This desire to empower and nurture upcoming talent is the driving force behind Dielite. Their vision, aptly captured in their slogan “different branches, same tree,” signifies the interconnectedness of media, sports, and entertainment – realms that resonate deeply with the Dielite brothers. Taleeb explains, “This tree of sports, media, and entertainment is the same tree that represents us as brothers and just as young people trying to make a living in this day and age.” Dielite Media and Sports was thus born, a testament to their unwavering commitment to fostering a space where creative dreams can flourish.
Jaleel, another Dielite founder, brings his legal expertise to the table. He highlights, “We saw how many artists don’t fully understand contracts. Artist representation is much like a lawyer representing a client’s interests.” This legal background empowers Dielite to ensure their clients navigate the industry with a clear understanding of contracts and protections.
Ishan’s experience in storytelling and visual media plays a crucial role in Dielite’s vision. Ishan Cyapital, as he’s known, brings a unique perspective shaped by storytelling and visual media. “Coming from a background of storytellers,” he explains, “storytelling comes naturally to me. Our music is a way for us to tell the stories of our experiences and to pass them on to our children.” This emphasis on narrative complements Dielite’s mission to not just manage talent, but to cultivate their voices and share their stories with the world.
Dielite’s mission statement perfectly encapsulates their purpose: “We are committed to providing the essential resources, knowledge, and training necessary for individuals to soar to unprecedented heights in their careers, ensuring they maximize the benefits of their passions.” This commitment manifests in several ways:
By combining their personal experiences, passion for talent development, legal expertise, and storytelling strength, Dielite is poised to make a significant impact on the creative landscape in both Tanzania and Malawi.
